JoinMe App Safety Guidelines

JoinMe App is a social connection platform designed to help people build friendships, attend events, and connect through shared interests in the real world.

These Safety Guidelines are intended to help users, attendees, and event hosts use the JoinMe App platform more safely. They set out practical safety expectations, reporting pathways, and behaviour standards for use of the platform and participation in JoinMe App-related meetups and events.

JoinMe App encourages all users to exercise caution, good judgement, and personal responsibility when interacting with others, whether online or in person.

JoinMe App takes user safety seriously and provides tools and guidance to support safer interactions. However:

• JoinMe App does not conduct in-person supervision of meetups or events unless expressly stated otherwise.
• JoinMe App cannot guarantee the identity, intentions, conduct, honesty, legality, or safety of any user, attendee, or event host.
• Any decision to communicate with, meet, attend an event with, or share information with another person is made at your own discretion and risk.
• JoinMe App is not a dating app, but users may still form personal connections through the platform. Users should take reasonable precautions before, during, and after any interaction.

These Safety Guidelines are general information only and do not replace emergency services, medical advice, mental health support, or law enforcement assistance where needed. If you are in immediate danger or require urgent help, contact emergency services straight away.

These Safety Guidelines apply to all JoinMe App users; people attending JoinMe App events or meetups; event hosts using JoinMe App to organise or facilitate events; and any person interacting through the JoinMe App platform in connection with a JoinMe App profile, meetup, group, or event.

By using JoinMe App, you acknowledge that you have read these Safety Guidelines and agree to follow them together with JoinMe App's Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, and any community standards or platform rules published by JoinMe App from time to time.

Before meeting someone through JoinMe App, take time to consider whether the interaction feels safe, respectful, and appropriate. JoinMe App recommends that you:

• meet for the first time in a public place such as a café, restaurant, library, shopping centre, gallery, gym, park with other people nearby, or organised community venue;
• do not meet for a first meetup at your home, their home, a hotel room, or another private or isolated location;
• tell a trusted friend or family member where you are going, who you are meeting, when you expect to arrive, and when you expect to return;
• share a screenshot of the person's JoinMe App profile, the meetup location, and any agreed plans with someone you trust;
• use live location sharing where available on your device;
• keep your phone charged and accessible;
• arrange your own transport to and from the meetup;
• avoid sharing your home address, workplace address, personal email address, or phone number until trust has developed over time; and
• keep communication within the JoinMe App where possible so there is a record if you need to make a report.

Even where another person appears friendly or familiar, users should remain aware of their surroundings and maintain personal boundaries. JoinMe App recommends that you:

• remain in public, visible, and populated areas;
• keep your drink, bag, phone, and personal belongings with you at all times;
• do not leave food or drinks unattended;
• avoid sharing highly personal information too quickly, including your address, financial details, daily routine, family information, passwords, or sensitive personal circumstances;
• do not feel pressured to stay longer than you want to;
• do not go to a second location unless you feel safe and someone you trust knows your plans;
• leave immediately if a situation feels manipulative, threatening, pressured, or unsafe; and
• seek help from venue staff, nearby people, security staff, or emergency services where appropriate.

You are entitled to leave a situation at any time. You do not owe anyone ongoing access to your time, attention, personal information, or company.

If you feel uncomfortable and want to leave, you do not need to give a detailed explanation. Short and direct statements are enough:

• "I'm going to head off now, thank you."
• "I've had something come up and need to leave."
• "I'm not feeling well, so I'm going home."
• "I'm going to call a friend and leave now."
• "I'm not comfortable continuing this conversation."
• "I need to leave now."
• "I don't think this is the right fit for me, but I wish you well."

You should use caution and consider ending contact if another person:

• pressures you to meet privately or in an isolated place;
• asks for your address early;
• pushes you to move off the app quickly;
• refuses to meet in a public place;
• becomes angry when you set a boundary;
• asks for money, gifts, loans, financial help, or bank details;
• uses guilt, pressure, manipulation, or intimidation;
• makes sexual comments after being asked to stop;
• attempts to isolate you from others at an event;
• avoids answering basic questions about themselves; or
• makes you feel rushed, unsafe, trapped, or obligated.

If this happens, prioritise your safety, leave if safe to do so, and use JoinMe App's reporting and blocking tools.

JoinMe App encourages users to keep communication inside the app wherever possible. This helps protect personal contact details and creates a record that may assist with reports, moderation, or safety review. Users should avoid sharing home address; personal phone number; workplace location; financial details; passwords or verification codes; private family information; travel plans before trust is established; daily routines; and children's school or care locations.

Any personal information collected, handled, stored, or disclosed by JoinMe App is governed by the JoinMe App Privacy Policy.

If another user, attendee, or host makes you feel unsafe, uncomfortable, harassed, threatened, pressured, manipulated, or disrespected, you should use JoinMe App's blocking and reporting functions as soon as it is safe to do so. Reportable behaviour may include harassment; threats; sexual comments or pressure; discrimination; aggressive messages; stalking behaviour; scams or financial requests; fake profiles; unsafe event conduct; boundary violations; attempts to move users off-app too quickly; and requests for private addresses or personal details.

JoinMe App may review reports and may take action in its discretion, including investigating reported conduct, requesting further information, restricting account access, suspending or removing accounts, removing event listings, contacting an event host, or referring serious matters to appropriate authorities where required or permitted by law. JoinMe App may retain records of reports, moderation decisions, and relevant communications for safety, compliance, and legal purposes in accordance with its Privacy Policy and applicable law.

JoinMe App events are intended to support in-person connection through shared activities. Even where an event is organised through the platform, users remain responsible for their own decisions, conduct, and personal safety. If you attend a JoinMe App event, JoinMe App recommends that you:

• check the venue before attending;
• choose events in public, well-lit, and accessible locations;
• tell someone where you are going;
• use your own transport where possible;
• park in a safe, well-lit area;
• avoid isolated car parks or walking alone at night where possible;
• avoid leaving with someone you have only just met unless you feel safe and someone you trust knows your plans; and
• leave and make a report if the event or a person at the event makes you feel unsafe.

If you feel uncomfortable leaving alone, ask venue staff, the host, or another trusted attendee for assistance.

If you host an event through JoinMe App, you are expected to help maintain a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for attendees. Event hosts are expected to:

• choose public, accessible, and reputable venues;
• avoid isolated locations for first-time or unfamiliar group events;
• provide clear event details, including location, start time, and finish time;
• consider venue lighting, access, parking, exits, toilet facilities, and mobile reception;
• avoid collecting unnecessary personal information from attendees;
• keep event-related communication within the JoinMe App platform where possible;
• avoid pressuring attendees to stay longer than they wish;
• set and maintain clear behavioural expectations;
• act promptly if unsafe, aggressive, discriminatory, intoxicated, or inappropriate behaviour occurs; and
• report safety concerns, serious incidents, or misconduct through JoinMe App's reporting channels.

Where reasonably possible, JoinMe App recommends that hosts do not run higher-risk events alone, particularly evening events, events in unfamiliar areas, or larger gatherings. JoinMe App may remove host privileges, cancel event listings, suspend accounts, or take other moderation action where a host fails to meet platform safety expectations.

If you feel unsafe during a meetup or event: move towards other people, venue staff, lighting, or a public area; call or message a trusted person; leave the area if you can do so safely; ask venue staff or security for assistance; avoid walking to your vehicle alone if you feel unsafe; ask a trusted person to stay with you or walk with you; and contact emergency services if you are in immediate danger. Once safe, block and report the person through JoinMe App as soon as practicable.

JoinMe App may display emergency or support contact information in-app based on user location where available.

If there is any inconsistency between local emergency service numbers shown in-app and the number applicable in your location, you should call the correct local emergency number for your area.

These Safety Guidelines should be read together with:

• JoinMe App's Terms and Conditions;
• JoinMe App's Privacy Policy;
• any Refund or Cancellation Policy that applies to bookings or paid events; and
• any other platform rules, community guidelines, or event standards published by JoinMe App from time to time.

To the extent permitted by law, these Safety Guidelines are intended to provide practical support and behavioural standards, but do not create a guarantee that any interaction, user, host, meetup, or event will be safe, suitable, lawful, or risk-free.

JoinMe App may update these Safety Guidelines from time to time to reflect operational changes, safety improvements, legal requirements, or platform updates. The latest version will be made available through the JoinMe App or website, and continued use of JoinMe App after an update may constitute acceptance of the revised Guidelines to the extent permitted by law.
